For those of you who know Rose Barritt from O'Neill, I have sad news.
Rose's husband Dan lost his fight with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) early Wednesday morning.
For many years Dan was a "non-member" member. But with the gentle help of Papa Jim and Bill Primrose, O'Neill got a great member and a even better grill master. You always knew when Dan was grilling because the grill marks would be perfect.

The wake will be from 6 to 9 tonight (Friday) and the mass will be at 9:00am Saturday morning at St. Patrick's church here in O'Neill. (Early time due to a wedding).

 Cards may be sent to:
 Rose Barritt
 301 Kros Street
 O'Neill, Ne 68763

Please keep Rose and the family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Talked with Bob yesterday. Bob should be released from the hospital either today or Friday. He will then have to spend 5 to 6 weeks in Perkins Pav in Hastings for recovery. When he gets to feeling better then he will probably have the Heart Cath, etc done. Time will tell. As of now he is feeling a lot better and acts like the old Bob we all know. Will let you know what room he will be in at Perkins when he gets settled.
Please keep him in your prayers as well as his family.
Thanks Stretch

Just talked to Ann about Bob.
Bob has several issues that are keeping him down.. He is breathing on his own at this time, but short on oxygen.
They need to treat the pneumonia, both lungs and staff infection before they can proceed with a heart cath.
He needs the heart cath before he can receive a pacemaker to help his heart out, as it is week. When they do
the heart cath, if it is possible, they will insert the pacemaker. He also has blockage that they need to find.
Bob is down in his spirits so get a card in the mail to him, don't call as he needs all his strength to keep going.
He is at Saint Elizabeth in Lincoln room 372
So in other words Bob is in need of our prayers and cards

Stretch
will update as more info comes in

PSF, Jim Welch is in Henderson Hospital and cards can be sent to him.
Address:    Henderson Hospital
                 1621 Front St.
                 Henderson, NE.  68371

He had ended up with an infection again, called Mersa.  He was unable to navigate again, so therefore we spent 6 days at the VA in Omaha, and transferred to Henderson since we were unable to get a bed in Grand Island VA.
I saw him tonight and he is looking pretty snappy.  He says that within a few days he is going to be home, but that is to remain seen.  I am not from Missouri, but I know that he is going to be better than he was before coming home.   He has improved much, and we appreciate the calls and concerns that we have received.
Thanks for your love and friendship,
Patty & Papa

The funeral and memorial services for Rachel Thomas, Janis's mother, will be this Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m. at South Omaha Aerie # 154.

Rachel Thomas

February 6, 1928 to January 18, 2010

Rachel was born on a farm near Greenwood, NE on February 6, 1928.  During the Great Depression, Rachel moved to South Omaha with her parents where she attended South High school and met her future husband, Ralph.  Forever known as Ralph and Rachel (It always had a nice ring to it!) they lived life's adventures, triumphs and sorrows in the South Omaha community for the rest of their lives.  Ralph led the way in September 2000 after experiencing the start of the new millennia - and now Rachel has followed to be by his side for eternity.  She was a loving and caring mom, grandma and great-grandma.  We will all miss her dearly.

Since Mama is still making her contribution to life by training doctors at UNMC, there will only be a short Memorial Service at the South Omaha Eagles Club, 2226 "N" Street, on Thursday, January 28th, at 7:00 p.m.  The club will be open for all who want to attend.

Ethel had a recurrence on her bleeding problem.  I took her to the ER room on Monday noon. Late afternoon there was a scan done, but the bleeding stopped and nothing was found.  This afternoon the bleeding started again and tonight the scan was done again.  There was a procedure done where the Doctors went in and found the leak and took care of it (somewhere in the lower intestines). She is resting and is doing OK tonight

.  She is in room 725 in the Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Phone 308-384-4600.

I do not know how long she will be in the hospital.

Just a note to let you know that my mother, Rachel Thomas, passed just after 1:00 o'clock in the morning on January 18th.  She went peacefully to sleep and we were here to say our goodbyes.  We will plan a memorial service, but she is still making her contribution to life as the transportation from the Anatomical Board took her to UNMC.  I'll let you know what is planned as details are confirmed.

Ethel had to have another fistula installed in her upper left arm for dialysis purposes on December 21st am. She was admitted on Dec 20th pm.

She was supposed to be released on the 23rd, but due to excessive drainage the doctors kept her an extra day.  Because of the snow storm that extra day turned out to be four days, she was released on the 29th.This was done at the St Elisabeth hospital in Lincoln. The fistula is healing very well.
Monday Jan 4th I took her to the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island. She is in room 732.  She is passing blood because of all the blood thinners she is on. They are trying to find out where the problem is. This is a second time for this to happen.

Dennis Lamb visited Russ again today at the hospital and he was doing much better.  He was moved from Intensive Care to a regular room and his medication was changed.  He had a much brighter attitude and was decidedly more chipper than the day before.  I know nothing else at this time, but that the impression changed from pessimistic to optimistic.

PGWP Russ Clark fell in his home on Christmas Eve day.  He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center by rescue squad.  He has several broken ribs and other things being treated.  He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Creighton University Medical Center.  Visitors have indicated that he doesn't look very good (but then, who does when they are hospitalized after an injury) but that his spirits are down.

Cheering up and get well cards can be sent to So. Omaha Aerie #154 and will be delivered to him at the hospital.

For the many who were at West Central Regional, it was announced the reason Norma Jean Krahmer wasn't there was she had a possible light heart attack.  Here is some updated information:  After various tests, it sounds like it was a light stroke instead.  Her heart is not pumping correctly as the one side doesn't close correctly, allowing the blood to drain into the lung.  They are trying to correct with medication at this time, otherwise it will be major surgery.  At this time she is unable to drive for 3 months but she is at home.  She would appreciate any cards or telephone calls plus your prayers.  Her address is:  PO box 371, Elkhorn NE 68022.
